Kick Recycling Myths to the Curb

Did you know that food and beverage cartons don’t have a “wax” coating or that bagging your recyclables in plastic bags can actually prevent them from getting recycled?

At the Carton Council, we’ve been working hard for almost 10 years to expand recycling of food and beverage cartons such as those that pack milk, juice, broth and even wine. Now we’re also trying to educate and eradicate some long-held myths that many believe. Below are some myths that are still out there. Help us spread the truth!

‘Plogging’ - Scandinavian Fitness Trend of Collecting Litter While Jogging Comes to America

STAMFORD, Conn. (Feb. 15, 2018) --  Lifesum, has become the first health app to allow its users (25 million internationally) to log and track ‘plogging’: an emerging environmentally conscious exercise craze from Scandinavia in which people integrate the collection of litter within their jogging workout. The move has been supported by Keep America Beautiful, which has served as the nation’s nonprofit steward of litter prevention for more than six decades.

Keep America Beautiful volunteers build living spaces for 60 Dallas fire stations

The national non-profit organization held its national conference in Dallas this week, with volunteers gathering for a 'Build and Grow' session of putting together picnic tables and benches at 60 Dallas Fire Rescue stations.

Keep Dallas Beautiful was awarded a grant from Lowe's to create the living spaces, with the help of neighborhood schools and volunteers.

Keep America Beautiful Launches “Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund”

STAMFORD, Conn. (Sept. 6, 2017) — Motivated by the need caused by the devastation from Hurricane Harvey and the threat of Hurricane Irma, Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s iconic community improvement nonprofit organization, today launched the Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund. Lowe’s, a long-time national sponsor of Keep America Beautiful, has agreed to become a founding member of the fund with a donation of more than $125,000.
