Arrival of new CEO signals start of new era for Keep America Beautiful
STAMFORD — A battalion of volunteers drives the work of Keep America Beautiful. Now, a one-time member of the ranks has ascended to the top of the organization.

Helen Lowman, who served in the mid to late 1990s on the boards of Texas KAB affiliates in Austin and El Paso, started May 1 as the president and CEO of the Stamford-based nonprofit. A veteran of former President Barack Obama’s administration, Lowman said she is keen to use her experience to energize KAB’s network of some 620 affiliates and more than 6 million program volunteers and participants who work to end littering, expand recycling and beautify communities.
