Bring One for the Chipper: Celebrating 28 Years of Treecycling in Georgia
Bring One for the Chipper is Georgia's annual Christmas tree recycling program. Each year, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation works with private sponsors like The Home Depot, The Davey Tree Expert Company, Georgia Forestry Commission, 11 Alive, Ferry Morse Seed Company, Burpee Seed Company, and One Tree Planted to organize the event. Numerous local sponsors and volunteers also make contributions and provide in-kind services across the state.
The Chipper program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers. Since its inception, the program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees. The program transforms a large number of trees into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes. Many communities also choose to sink them into lakes to create fish habitats.
You can support the Chipper program by bringing your Christmas tree to a designated drop off site or volunteering with your local coordinator to collect trees.
Metro Atlanta residents can also get FREE mulch delivered. Find the order form and more details here. [PDF]
