Great American Cleanup 2018
Keep America Beautiful launched the Great American Cleanup on the first day of spring, March 20, 2018.
Local affiliates and partnering organizations, volunteers and corporate sponsors play a key role in the success of the Great American Cleanup.
The Great American Cleanup social theme – #cleanYOURblock – is a call-to-action to engage more volunteers and participants in public space cleanup, beautification and recycling events conducted by Keep America Beautiful affiliates nationwide. Once an individual becomes a Great American Cleanup volunteer with their local Keep America Beautiful affiliate or partner, our goal is that they will be inspired to take that experience home to organize a similar, smaller-scale event in their own neighborhood … even on their own block.
Event partners nationwide execute Great American Cleanup programs designed to End Littering, Improve Recycling and Beautify America's Communities. We encourage volunteers to participate in a local cleanup – and/or conduct your own – and then celebrate your hard work afterward … creating a national #cleanYOURblock Party!
Keep America Beautiful encourages all event organizers, volunteers and participants to use the #cleanYOURblock and #DoBeautifulThings hashtags on all Great American Cleanup and related social media posts.
The Great American Cleanup Volunteer Guide is available to help foster behavior change at home by providing volunteers with ideas, tips and resources they can apply in their own community when it comes to the proper disposal of litter and recyclables, beautification activities and more.
