Keep America Beautiful

Volunteer Spotlight

Keiji Asakura
Keep Houston Beautiful
Houston, TX

Keiji is a professional landscape architect who has a passion for serving the community. He volunteered the design services for the Outdoor Garden & Nature Playground at the Gabriela Mistral Center for Early Childhood in the Gulfton area of Southwest Houston. The playground featured raised beds and container gardens, fruit trees, compost bins, an outdoor classroom, fort, pond, music space and sand pit.

By envisioning the garden, Keiji opened the door to making the dream of a playground for the children and teachers at Gabriela Mistral come true. In recognition of his exemplary community service, Keiji has been honored with the title of Fellow in the Service Category by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

Keep America Beautiful has a strong national network of affiliates and partners that work with millions of volunteers who take action in their communities.
