Volunteer Spotlight

Melanie Hughes
Keep Dorchester County Beautiful

For the last 14 years, Melanie Hughes has been an outstanding volunteer and Board Member for Keep Dorchester County Beautiful (KDCB) in South Carolina. Melanie has been instrumental in collaborating with other KDCB Board Members on events and has always been reliable; attending events rain or shine.
KDCB is honored to not only have the help of Melanie, but also her generous Husband, Michael, who is also no stranger to lending a hand. Together, they have planted more than 75 Trees in Dorchester County at Williams Memorial School and at Rosebrock Park. They also helped to collect more than 48,000 thousand pounds of e-scrap materials. Melanie was a teacher at a local school for many years where she coordinated the recycling program. She had the school recycle not only paper, but juice boxes, and used crayons. Since retiring, Melanie has remained active with KDCB, bringing her passion to more KDCB activities than ever!

Keep America Beautiful has a strong national network of affiliates and partners that work with millions of volunteers who take action in their communities.
