“Recycling is No Joke!” on America Recycles Day (or Any Other Day!)
Keep America Beautiful Sponsors Video Contest in Support of National Recycling Event
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 23, 2011) —Have you ever thought, “Recycling doesn’t make a difference.” Well, you are wrong. Your pets don’t like you, you’ll never get a date, and even small children laugh and point at you behind your back.
But seriously folks … recycling is no joke -- it benefits our economy, creates jobs, saves energy and protects natural resources. So help us show that “recycling is no joke” by participating in the first-ever America Recycles Day (ARD) video contest, open to contestants of all ages. Then be eligible to win $1,000 if you make the judges (and the public) laugh.
America Recycles Day is celebrated nationwide each Nov. 15, and celebrates the benefits of recycling through an array of awareness-raising events nationwide. To increase the buzz this year, national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful (KAB) is conducting a video contest, which runs through Oct. 28, 2011. Submissions can be anything ranging from a one-liner, to a comic strip or skit about recycling, but the video must show recycling in a positive, humorous manner.
The video needs to be uploaded to the ARD YouTube page (youtube.com/AmericaRecyclesDay) by Oct. 28, 2011, as a response to a short video that explains the competition. The ARD Video Committee will vote on the top 10 winners and upload them to a YouTube playlist on our ARD page by Nov. 8, 2011. During the following week, the public will pick the winning videos by clicking the “like” button associated with their favorite video. Voting ends on America Recycles Day. See full contest details here.
The grand prize is $1,000 in cash, and members of the winning group (up to five) will also receive a prize pack. The second-place winner will receive $500 in cash. The Committee also may award additional prizes. More information can be found on AmericaRecyclesDay.org or by emailing americarecycles11.15@gmail.com.
