(March 18, 2013) — Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) today announced a partnership agreement focusing on increasing recycling in city, regional and state public parks across the country. As part of the one-year collaboration, DPS is donating $300,000 to KAB primarily to fund the placement of recycling bins to provide citizens visiting public parks greater access to recycling systems. “Keep America Beautiful is excited to collaborate for the first time with Dr Pepper Snapple Group on this Public Park Recycling Grant program," said Brenda Pulley, senior vice president of recycling programs, Keep America Beautiful. "This program will help build awareness by providing park visitors opportunities to recycle their containers away from home.” Grant applications will be available online through April 26, 2013. The DPS/KAB Public Park Recycling Grant program is open to governments or organizations that help maintain and/or support public state, regional and city parks. All interested parties can visit irecycleonthego.wordpress.com to apply. “We are pleased to work with Keep America Beautiful on efforts to make recycling more accessible for park guests,” said Tim Gratto, vice president of sustainability for DPS. “Recycling is a shared responsibility for consumers, companies and communities, and we see this partnership as a meaningful way for DPS to be a part of the solution.” The KAB partnership is part of DPS’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. The company has set specific operational goals to improve efficiency in energy and water use, reduce manufacturing waste and conserve packaging resources by 2015.
