LIBERTY GARDENS
Developed after the tragic national events of September 11, 2001, Keep America Beautiful created Liberty Gardens. We encouraged our national network to "act locally and plant patriotically" as they created their own interpretation of Liberty Gardens.
More than 1,000 Liberty Gardens have been planted since the initiative began in 2001. From walkways incorporating plantings and memorial stones to schoolyard flagpole displays, Americans are developing magnificent patriotic community gardens as special places of natural beauty that honor America and reaffirm its principles of freedom and liberty.
Here are some examples of Liberty Gardens from around the country ... and how your community can get involved.
