Colgate invites you to try these small steps toward a healthier world:
Turn off the water while you brush your teeth and save 4 gallons per minute. That can add up to 200 gallons per week for a family of four or 10,400 gallons per year.1
Fix that leaky faucet! Often it's a simple and inexpensive repair (you can even do yourself) and can save as much as 140 gallons per week (assuming 20 gallons per leak per day).1
Shorten your showers! -- a 1-2 minute reduction can save up to 700 gallons per person per month. For a family of four this could mean an annual saving of 33,600 gallons of water and as much as $237 in heating costs!2
When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Filling one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water can save hundreds of gallons per month.6
Slow down to consume less gas and save money. Just decreasing speed from 65 mph to 55 mph can increase your miles per gallon by as much as 15%.3
Change a single 100-watt bulb to its more energy efficient CFL equivalent and you can save as much as $100 in energy costs over the lifetime of each bulb. This also reduces the pollution generated from your local power plant to make that extra electricity.5
Pick up one 2 oz. piece of litter per day -- this can add up to 45 pounds of litter annually.
Run your washing machine only when full and you could save over 3,400 gallons of water per year.4
