National Awards Program
To honor the work of all our partners whose commitment to community improvement delivers more beautiful, cleaner, and improved neighborhoods and public spaces, Keep America Beautiful is proud to present its National Awards Program. Annually, KAB recognizes and rewards the best of the best among our network of affiliates, leading corporate partners and volunteers across the country with a variety of different awards and honors.

How to Apply
- WATCH YOUR FILE SIZE! No one file size should be larger than 1MB! The ideal application is one document (either Word doc or PDF). When submitting photos, please send high resolution shots if possible. Click here for an easy guide about what type of photos we're looking for you to submit.
- Put your affiliate/organization name and what award you are applying for in the upload email subject line. The more information you include, the better, i.e. "Keep Mansfield Beautiful, MA, Affiliate Award, previously recognized category"
- All programs and projects submitted for consideration must fall within the timeframe of July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012
- Plan and prepare, don’t rush. Give yourself enough time (2-3 weeks, if possible) to prepare the award application.
Award winners will be recognized at Keep America Beautiful’s 60th National Conference in Washington, D.C. in January 2013. To submit an entry, click next to the appropriate category below. Hard copies will not be accepted.
There is a $5 fee per submission. Checks & credit cards are accepted.

Keep America Beautiful recognizes outstanding KAB affiliates and their programs in litter prevention, beautification/community greening and waste reduction/recycling. Affiliate award winners deliver a more beautiful, cleaner and enhanced environment using new technologies, improved waste handling and public space stewardship in their programs over a 12-month period.

environment.

The Sue Smith Professional Leadership Award
Named after the recently-retired Director of Education and Affiliate Trainer for Keep America Beautiful, this award honors Affiliate Executive Directors who have
built and sustained a local or state affiliate program with exceptional
success.

The William (Bill) Nash Award
A pioneer in establishing the national Keep America Beautiful affiliate network, Bill
Nash worked tirelessly with community leaders across the country. This award recognizes a new Keep America
Beautiful affiliate (certified within the last three years) for its outstanding
achievement in implementing the Keep America Beautiful System.

Affiliate Ambassador Award
Rewards outstanding Keep America Beautiful
affiliates that go above and beyond their regular duties and reach out to their
fellow affiliates to provide assistance as a peer and share best practices. These potential ambassadors are
nominated by their affiliate peers. Created in recognition of Keep America Beautiful's 60th
anniversary, the first Affiliate Ambassador will be recognized during the January 2013 National Conference.

| Achievement Awards |
Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson Award
Honors an outstanding woman for exceptional
leadership in litter prevention, waste reduction/recycling and beautification/community greening
activities. The award originated during a “Salute to Women in Beautification”
program at Keep America Beautiful’s National Conference in 1968, and
commemorates the former first lady’s many litter prevention and beautification
activities. Since 1968, more than 50 outstanding volunteer women have
received this award.

Iron Eyes Cody Award
Salutes an outstanding male volunteer for
exceptional leadership in raising public awareness about litter prevention,
roadside and community beautification, solid waste issues, and the need for
citizens to participate in activities that preserve and enhance natural
resources and public lands. Since 1988, more than 20 men have been honored with
this award.

Young Professional Award
Keep America Beautiful will be presenting the first-ever KAB Young
Professional Award at its 60th Anniversary National Conference to honor an
outstanding volunteer under the age of 40. This exceptional man or woman
will have demonstrated remarkable leadership and outreach in his or her
community through work in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction/recycling promotion
and beautification/community greening.
