Keep America Beautiful

Welcome to Give and Go! Move Out 2014. The Give and Go program is a partnership between Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and Goodwill Industries International (GII) with program support from the College and University Recycling Coalition (CURC). The program is designed to work with colleges and universities to implement effective collection drives during the spring move out period at the end of the term when college students leave campus housing.

Initiated as part of a 2012 KAB commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative-University (CGI-U), Give and Go was piloted in the spring of 2013 at five schools: Creighton University, University of Toledo, Northern Illinois University, Trinity University and Franklin College.  The pilot was a great success and resulted in a dramatic increase in the amount of clothing and household goods recovered from each of the schools over previous years. Over 60,000 lbs. of reusable material was diverted from the landfill to local Goodwill stores and ultimately new homes. In the process, the value of these materials helped fund 1,757 hours of local job training services, helping to strengthen the relationship of the participating schools to their communities.
